it was tissue in the block nonreturn valve
just need to rebuild now i hope

Phew, bet that's a relief!
Excuse my ignorance on teeny-weeny baby engines, but will that have starved anything else of oil?
Next time you're blowing your nose when you're playing with the car, count all the bits of tissue when you've finished
