|
|
Hello
Can anyone advise of a local outfit with experience of westfields I can entust mine to. My zetec has has gone bang due to an oil starvation porblem and I now have a recond unit to replace it with. Only problem is i'm just buying a house that needs serious work doing on it and I will have trouble finding the time to tinker lovingly with my car. I just know if I start this job myself I'm going to rush it and it'll end up taking even longer...
But i absolutely can't miss Le mans in june so time is ticking and the sun is shining.
Thanks
Ben |

Surely you only need a garage with a good experience of Zetecs?
Afteral, the engines are not that hard to take out if neccesary.
Other than that, not sure about local garages as not long been in Essex, sorry

For the record, I'm entrusting the sorting of my car to Specialised Engines in Grays. Having spoken to them and been shown around their facilities I think they look like they can do the job. They only work on ford engines and have experience with westfields.
Will let you know if they do a good job... |

Will be interesting to see what sort of job they do, often wondered what they were like. _________________ Colin

Well its back up and running.
Specialised Engines turned it around in a week, whipping out the engine - and sorting the conrod and crank. Whilst it was out I succumbed to temptation and had the bottom end balanced, and a big valve gas flowed head fitted with a pair of perkier cams. Cost me just under £2.5k fitted. Seems like a decent enough job so far and they were certainly happy to let us see everything they were doing
Certainly feels much smoother but I've now got to run it in - sub 3000rpm for 1000 miles |

Jeeeezzzzzus, 2.5k, I should hope it was a good job for that kind of cash.
It's almost as much as I payed for my whole car - lol
It's gonna be hard to keep it under 3,000 for a thousand miles don't you think.. ?
