Yep that's it you pop it between the 2 pads and turn it with a spanner, which pushes the pads back, which push the break pistons back, making it nice and easy to put them back on the disks.
A big ish G clamp will do in my case as they are rear 1 pot calipers, anyone got one of these? _________________ www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk

Rear 1 pot caliper? Do you mean the standard Ford caliper and the tool designed for pushing the piston back and spinning the handbrake mech. in at the same time? If so, I've got one. It doesn't go between the pads though!! |

Yep I found that out yesterday.
Can I borrow your tool to twist mine back in?
Could I pop round one night and pick it up as I can't make the meeting this weekend. _________________ www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk

Yup, it does make life easy doesn't it?
I got that tool from MotorMania but I noticed Halfrauds actually stock them now. I think they're about £15. OK so you can do it with a pair of broken mole grips and some long-nosed pliers but it takes ages and you end up with some nasty injuries!
Anyway, no rush to get it back, my rear pads were fine last time I looked and I've not got a trackday booked I'll shout if I need it before it's made it back. If you're at next months meet that might be a good place to start? Even better if you could co-incide the return with getting me wheels balanced
Cheers,
Graham. |

All went well on Friday, apart from the 3 hour wait, to get there....
My car all set up
But my ACB10's are too wide for the rear wheels so I could not fit them
Simon your slicks fitted, but not balanced as the weights did not fit and I could not use sticky ones due to your brakes.
Graham Your wheels were miles out had to stick about 5 weights on each one to get them balance, took ages...
I'm sorry to say both sets are still at my GF workshop, I am having a major nightmare getting my car to fire up and the sprint is this weekend.
Please bare with me I'll fetch them down for you next week need to get the car working. _________________ www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk

Jan, thanks for doing that, sorry it took a while!
Bit of a relief really, if they were't out I guess I'd have been stripping/changing the hubs! I must admit, with the benefit of hindsight, the muppet who did them before did not fill me with confidence. I began to suspect the wheels when the nasty vibration continued, unchanged, after I changed the disks!
If it makes it easier for you, if I can pick them up from pretty much anywhere, let me kniow.
Cheers,
Graham. |

Jan,
Any chance of getting my wheels back over the weekend? Are you at North Weald on tomorrow? I could collect them there maybe>
Taking the car to V8D on Monday and driving on the nearly bald 32's that are on it at the moment doesn't really appeal...
